Eczema herpeticum, a type of Kaposi's varicelliform eruption, is an uncommon disease and usually found in individuals who have an eczematous atopic dermatitis.
We have experienced two cases of eczema herpeticum which occurred in a 21-year-old man and a 2-year-old girl with atopic dermatitis.
Typical central umblicated vesicopustules and crusted lesions were seen in both patients. Herpes simplex virus were isolated on monolayers of vero cells from the eczematous lesion and identified by monoclonal antibody (Microtrak, syva) technique.
