We studied 61 cases of nosocomial pneumonia whose etiologic agents were identified by a positive bacterial culture from blood, pleural fluid, TTA material and serology. Patients were hospitalized to the Seoul National University Hospital between January, 1983 and July, 1989. Two third of the patients had aerobic gram-negative bacterial pneumonia. Klebsiella and other members of the family Enterobacteriacae predominated. Their over-all mortality was 37.7%, which were dependent on the severity of underlying disease.
