A Case of Abominal Actinomycosis That Occurred on Psoas Muscle

Actinomycosis is a chronic, granulomatous suppurative disease caused by Actinomyces species. The organism is anaerobic, gram-positive bacteria that is inhabitant of human oral cavity, tonsil and alimentary tract. Actinomycosis is characterized by sulfur granule formation which discharged via draining sinus from abscess.
Most of abdominal actinomycosis is developed after abdominal trauma, operation, or inflammatory bowel disease.
This report describe a case of primary actinomycosis involing the psoas muscle without evidence of preexisting inflammatory disorder, trauma or operation.
