Recently, the incidence of cutaneous tuberculosis is tending to decrease in Korea as well as in the world. However, the cutaneous tuberculosis is frequently reported in the developing countries having socioeconomic problems such as poverty, malnutrition, and poor environmental condition. In the western countries, it has recently become more resurgent because it occurs frequently in the immunocompromised hosts and in patients with AIDS.
The clinical picture of all cutaneous mycobacterial infections including tuberculosis is highly variable, and any unexplained skin lesion, especially if it has nodular or ulcerative components, may be due to tuberculosis.
We experienced a case of cutaneous tuberculosis in an 8 year-old Korean boy.
